Open house hours are 12-2pm. During this time you may meet the dogs and fill out a pre-adoption application which will be checked during the week. If you have an approved pre-adoption application, we may be able to finalize an adoption during the open house. Note: Some of our dogs are in foster homes, and may not be available during the open house events. Other than during open houses, we do not show dogs/cats without an appointment. Update 11/14: Peter has been waiting almost a year for a home of her own. He is still a little shy with people he doesn't know and will require an adopter with patience to help him with his housetraining. He loves to go for walks with the people he knows at rescue. He would be happiest as an only dog as once he bonds with his people he doesn't want anyone else stealing their attention. A fenced in yard would be helpful for Peter, or a very diligent owner to make sure he never got outside without a leash on. Peter also needs a home without young children. Peter really deserves a home of her own, and maybe you are just the right person to help him learn how to be a loved house dog and family member. Original Profile: Peter and his friends came to us from an animal control facility where over 30 Chihuahuas and mixes were surrendered from an owner who had all the dogs in a 1 bedroom apartment. These little ones are shy and need socialization and some had some medical needs. They are now on their way to recovery and ready for adoption. Once they are comfortable in their surroundings, they like to play with toys and want to be held. If you are interested in adopting one of these boys, please fill out the pre-adoption application. Adoption Procedures: 1. Completely fill out the pre-adoption application. We will be checking with your vet if you have had pets, calling your landlord (if any) and checking a personal reference, before we contact you about visiting the adoptables. Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2. If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in. 3. If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her. In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day. If all the vetting hasn't been done yet, we will hold the pet for you until the vet work is completed. 4. If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application. You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time. Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us! The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $150 - $450 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax. Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested and started on preventative, microchipped, and dewormed. Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.
